About Us

U.S. Gym is owned and operated by Michele and João Ribeiro. João was a member of the 1980 Brazilian Olympic Team. Michele is a degreed accountant and has been a successful business owner over 25 years.

At U.S. Gym, our philosophy is to focus on the foundations of the sport, in a fun and exciting environment. We strive to properly instruct each student in the basic skills, and work with each individual to achieve his or her potential. Most importantly, we provide a safe learning environment. We feel that gymnastics is a stepping stone for all sports. The skills that your child practice here will carry over to many other aspects of sport and life.

Students work on various aspects of physical, mental and social development, while having fun. They develop self-discipline and confidence. In our classes, we teach strength, flexibility, balance, gross and fine motor coordination, agility, as well as socialization and self esteem.

We have a world-class staff, which includes former Olympic athletes and coaches. All of our staff members are well trained and experienced.

U.S. Gym is located in a brand new, 20,000 square foot, state of the art facility.

We are a 2014-2015 USA Gymnastics Member Club.

In addition, we are a USAIGC Safe Club, indicating that our coaching staff surpasses rigorous standard for quality and safety.

U.S. Gym is located in a 20,000 square foot facility in Mahwah, New Jersey. Our facility spans two gyms, which are adjacent to each other. In Gym I, for our recreational teams, cheer classes, and birthday parties, we have all the olympic pieces of equipment. In addition, we have a cheer floor, two loose foam pits, 3 exciting Bouncy Houses, a Junior Still Rings Tower, Junior Parallel Bars, and an extensive array of mats in all shapes, sizes, and colors. In Gym II, for our USAG Boys and Girls Teams, we have a brand new, world class, state-of-the-art facility.

We offer a wide variety of gymnastics classes, beginning with Mommy & Me and Preschool, continuing with boys and girls school-age classes, through the teen years. Our students practice on all the Olympic pieces of gymnastics equipment. In addition, students use the trampoline, mini-tramp, and the two largest loose foam pits in Bergen County! Students are placed in class according to age and ability. All classes are taught using our own Skill Progression Program. The program is designed to be challenging, yet not overwhelming. Students of various levels of ability can develop at their own pace.

Classes consist of a warm-up, rotation through several events, and a cool down period. Our student/teacher ratio is kept to a minimum. There are no more than eight students per instructor, to allow for maximum individual attention.

We invite prospective students to visit the gym with a parent and have a look around. Current class and schedule information is available at the front desk. In addition, students can schedule a "Trial Class", space permitting. The cost is $20.

Please view our brochure or contact the office for information regarding current class availability.

Why should pre-schoolers do gymnastics?

At US GYMNASTICS your child will participate in an organized lesson plan carried out by a certified professional. Each lesson plan is centered around a 2 week theme, the themes create a challenging and fun gymnastics experience incorporating gross and fine motor skills.

Advanced Gymnastics

After perfecting their basic gymnastics skills, students may wish to expand the time and intensity of their gymnastics training. The Advanced Gymnastics Program gives students the opportunity to train in increments greater than one hour. It is structured to give the student the opportunity to learn skills with a higher degree of difficulty. Students wishing to participate in the Advanced Gymnastics Program should make arrangements with the front desk to be evaluated.

Stars, Development and Pre-Team

Younger students who show exceptional ability in strength, flexibility, coordination, balance or agility may be invited to our Stars, Development or Pre-Team Programs. Like students are grouped together to further develop the basics of gymnastics. Most often this program meets multiple times per week in increments greater than one hour. The Stars, Development and Pre-Team Programs serve as the greatest source of enrollment for our Team Program. For additional information, please contact our office. This program is invitation only.

Our boys and girls team collectively have captured over 100 State, Regional, and National titles. Our team has become highly respected both across the state and country as well! Team members, with their families, spend countless hours of time, dedication and commitment to develop their gymnastics skills to the highest degree of perfection. We take great pride in our Team Program. For additional information, please contact our office. This program is invitation only.
